Fender Princeton Amp is in NJ
The Fender Princeton Amp is hear in the PALM Studio. It sounds lush, juicy and wonderful. I am so glad to have one of these amps back in the studio for the Fender Strat.
Happy New Year
Wow its been a year, I have been back in NJ for two years now, I still feel like I belong in CA but I will still be in NJ for some time. It will be interesting to see what the new year brings. I am looking forward to my relationships growing this year, my music, and meeting new people. It has been a hard year at work at PH and the ER but I think I am beginning to feel better now. I look forward to my small trips this year and making some really good music. Well Happy New Year and do something good for you and another this year. Peace be With You All.

I am tired
Well its almost the new year. What have I done with this year? Well I have stayed working at Princeton Med Center in the ER and PH. I have been with Kathy for a year now. Wow where did that time go? I have been writing music this year and have been focused on getting that all together. I have fired my former agent and have made a decision to not trust someone else for the future development of any of my projects or ventures. While I long to have a partner and friend or team to do something with I realize that it is me who needs to focus and make it happen. I hope this new year will be more finalizing of my music vision and dreams. I also hope to have more time with my girls.

Ottmar Lieberts Spaghettin Carbonara Recipe
Ottmar Liebertís Spaghetti Carbonara recipe
I have been asked about my Spaghetti Carbonara recipe. I have been cooking this dish for many years now and don't adhere to measurements, but here goes:
- boil a box of De Cecco Spaghetti according to the instructions on the box
- cut half a package of Louis Rich Turkey Bacon (probably neither natural or organic, but tasty) into small squares and fry in a pan with a little olive oil and two cloves of garlic. When the bacon is crisp, add about half a cup of white wine and after bringing it to a boil, turn down and simmer
- in a large bowl mix 3 eggs (some people use only the yolks, but I like to use whole eggs) with grated romano and parmeggiano cheese (about a cup each), black pepper to taste and finely chopped flat leafed parsley (also called Italian parsley). You can use this whisk - it works very well......

Back from Vacation
Wow was it nice to take off for 10 days. Its been three years since a vacation. It was nice I was out in Bolder CO visiting with Kathy’s parents, Did some Sight seeing in Bolder, Denver, and Estes Park and went to Celestial Seasonings Teas. Saw Ottmar Liebert in Denver, Skiing in Beconridge . Awah it was nice to do. Played the guitar as much as I was able to and took lots of pictures. Check them out on the web link at www.victortarassov.com links Victor’s Flicker account. I think I am going to stop all together seeing clients just in the ER or PH in the admissions department and my time away from work will focus on music and creating a music set. Have been sick the last three days as well. I have also been dealing with disappointment with others and myself lately. The most wonderful part of my vacation was spent in Bolder at a small Lutheran Church, the pastor there. Talked about unwrapping Christ as a present and expencering Him that way. It touched me very deeply. Will write more later.

Practice vs Performance
Practice vs Performance
“When we practice we often concentrate on individual aspects or fragments of a performance. Fingering, sound-production, volume/dynamics, melody, rhythm are all aspects of a performance that can be practiced independently. Concentrating on one of these aspects will have wonderful results and is in fact essential for improving, but I think that concentration is not good for performing music.
When we concentrate on the flow of the melody, the rhythm will suffer and we might place notes too far in front of or behind the beat. When we concentrate on the rhythm we might place the notes exactly on the beat, but the melody will lack flow. When we concentrate on producing sound (right hand for most people), we might lose sight of the fingering (left hand). In other words, while fragmentation is a great way to isolate and practice a piece of music - or general aspects of posture, fingering, sound-production, volume/dynamics etc. - for a performance these fragments have to join to form one single element: the music.
In order for music to flow naturally, we have to allow the mind to flow and trust that it will bring attention to any single element that requires it. During a performance mind might flow like this:
the melody is a little behind the beat... nice, but don't fall behind... the lights are hot in the back of my neck... right hand is a little sweaty... keep it steady - don't listen to Davo (sounds like he's doing sevens against the six)... ah, Jon is starting to improvise: don't go back to the melody now... the second string sounds a little off - is it me or the violin... or both...
You see, concentrating on any one aspect of the performance would inhibit the flow of mind and that might get us stuck and when we get stuck even for a moment we won't respond to the needs that are arising. Getting stuck is the worst that can happen in a performance. Two places we certainly do not want to get stuck in are: what I just played was so great AND what I just played really sucked! Both thoughts have the same result - the flow of music is impeded and the very next phrase will indeed suck...
By no means is this limited to music. When you cook and concentrate too much on one item, you'll burn another... and I am sure we will find many more examples...”

With Kathy at MoJo's Coffie ship in Lafayette CO
I would like to leave you - for now - with this:
What is the purpose of millions of years of evolution?
Let me tell you a secret: it's YOU! It's all so you can experience this life.
Lots of animals have to die so you can live, many humans work to enable your life, and much energy is used up by you.
So, please, take a deep breath, hug a child or a friend, kiss a lover, enjoy a meal alone or with company, take in a sunset, take a deep listen to a piece of music, enjoy a walk... just a take a few moments during this holiday to enjoy this incredible, this unbelievable, this very precious experience - your life.
Happy Solstice tonight and Happy Holiday weekend!
The above came from Ottmar Lieberts journal today I will be seeing him with Kathy and her Mom and Dad tonight in Denver. We are in the coffee shop and going to go up to Estes Park in the mountains of CO. I will put the photos on the Flicker sight at www.victortarassov.com later in the week. Well spent some cash man it goes easy listened to a bunch of goofs in the coffee shop. Why is it so hard for us to take responsibility for who we are the good, bad, and not so bad parts of who we are. Who are we fooling if we blame some one else. By the way What kind of energy are you putting out today. I hope mine will be a nice cool breath of fresh air and I will keep centered on the fact that I am loved by the one who created the whole universe.

Hard Night Back in the ER
Well some of you may know that last week in the ER where I work a young adolescent boy slit his throat in front of many of us that work in the ER. This for me was the most traumatic event that I have ever experienced. I was not particularly looking forward to going back to the ER. When walking out of the parking garage my stomach got tight and I felt sick. I really did not think that I would have to be back in the ER so soon. Well one of my co workers misunderstood what I said when I said “I dont want to work in the ER” as I wont come to the ER, well that put in motion something that I was not in the mood to deal with. A supervisor named M Joe gave me a hard time and that put me in a bad place. To the point that she even called other co workers to say that I was not in the right frame of mind to work with people. I was already caring for a patient in the ER and doing a fine job when she decided to check up on me and call. I have never spoken to this person before and she was asking questions that were degrading and belligerent. Well I wanted to just walk out and quit. I however did not. Instead I called my supervisor and sent them a email, about my experience. I finished up with my pt and had them transported to the appropriate facility. Man can administration be a pain and very un understanding. I think I have had enough for a day. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Weekend Summary
I have been in a counseling roll one way or another for almost 20 years. This weekend was the most traumatic that I have ever experienced. I saw a young adolescent man 17 slice his through and have the blood gush out. I was shaking for almost 24 hours after the event. It gives me a new sympathy to those of use who see and find ourselves in traumatic events. I hope that this year and every year I will be more sensitive to those people who find themselves exposed to these type of events, whether it be violence, rape, death or any other trauma as humans we need to listen to the story and be supportive of those who find themselves exposed to these events. Its our hope to heal the pain that we experience.

The Flow
To listen with a mind that flows freely is to listen with your whole body. I think I mentioned an NY Times article in this diary before, but I can't find it right now. THIS will have to do:
In a groundbreaking New York Times story, Sandra Blakeslee disclosed that new scientific evidence is giving credence to the notion that the human body actually possesses two centers to process knowledge and dictate physical actions. Blakeslee reports: [Scientists say] that the body has two brains--the familiar one encased in the skull and a lesser known but vitally important one found in the human gut....The gut's brain, known as the enteric nervous system, is located in sheaths of tissue lining the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon. Considered a single entity, it is a network of neurons, neurotransmitters and proteins that zap messages between neurons, support cells like those found in the brain proper and a complex circuitry that enables it to act independently, learn, remember, and as the saying goes, produce gut feelings.
Musicians can learn to perform with their whole body, that is to follow the flow of the music with their mind, using the brain, ears, body and their "gut". Eventually we can learn to LIVE with our whole body - if we are willing to do the training: that is the whole premise of Zen training. I have experienced how wonderful it is to experience this flow in music - during performances for example - and I have experienced it in life. The main obstacle is our own ego/brain that can get in the way by jealously guarding the self it has created. There is nothing to fear but fear itself, and there is nothing separating us from life itself but our own small selves... This is taken from Ottmar Lieberts junal at www.lunanegra.com

Life can Be Stressfull
I am finding it hard to deal with all that life throws at you. I am very glad for the people that I have in my life yet that is not enughf to sustain the soul or heart. I long for a deeper intimacy with God yet find all so many exquess to stay away, bussyness, bordom, tired, over worked, so when will I or any one get connected. Well I think its going to take disiplin and time somthing I seem to be in short of right now. As I struggle to keep the reason for the season infront of me I am still tempted to feed my flesh rather than my soul. Ah all the shiny little things look so good and if I just buy them I will somehow feel good. Well thats BS but somewhere I still belive it and am tempted to think that will work. So when will I have enugh and slow down. Only when I say stop or drop dead. I hope I will slow down and take time for people and my self with out spending too much cash. I hope I will learn to say no to myself more.
